What is SageTV Media Server for Linux

I'm building my system now (AMD X4 905e, Asus MN378-VM, 4GB - probably overkill. HDHR, and maybe an HD-PVR). Sage attracts me more than myth because of the media extender, WAF, and support. I'm willing and able to tweak for a while, but once it's working I'd like to be pretty much done with it.

Still, I'd love to try Sage before I buy it. There seems to be no eval download of the linux version, but there is something called SageTV Media Server for Linux in the downloads area. However, there's no documentation in the download, and I can't find anything that tells me what it is. Is it the SageTV PVR, which is usually called the SageTV Media Center? Is it a upnp server? Is there a document somewhere?

Thanks for any info!

It is the complete SageTV server software (PVR and Media Library Management). Linux does not have an eval licence, probably because of how the license keys work, I'm not sure exactly.

If you download the linux version it will prompt you for a license key, and it will not work without it. No need to use this thread as a "why doesn't sage offer a linux trial", since there other threads on that discussion

If you have setup mythtv and had your tuners working under myth, then I would think that you'll have no issues setting up SageTV for linux. I currently run a single tuner using a STB and the HD-PVR under lnux, and it's pretty stable. But if you are primarily a windows user, then you may feel more confortable with a windows server, and you will probably have better hardware support, depending on your tuners.
