Infamous x80040217 video rendering problem

Had HD-PVR with SageTV working great on both XP and Vista
Moved HD-PVR to WHS box.
HD-PVR works great on WHS with TME.
SageTV on the other hand - x80040217 video rendering problem
Have seemingly tried every combination of MPEG2 Video Decoder , MPEG4 Playback and Audio Renderers.

Does anyone have a winning/working combination and/or other suggestion on how to configure the a/v settings to work?

Thank You.

If it hasn't been said before, I'll say it... using WHS as a playback client is asking for trouble, get an extender and you won't have to worry about decoders and renderers Just to be clear, you are getting that error when playing back locally on the WHS machine? What kind of video card is in the server? Does it have recent drivers installed or is it using the generic Windows VGA driver? Did you install and use the same decoder (I think HD-PVR requires H.264 capable decoder) you were using under XP and Vista? Do other non-HD MPEG2 recordings playback without the rendering error? You mentioned combinations of MPEG2 decoders, MPEG4 Playback, and Audio Renderers...what about H.264 Video Decoder Filter in Detailed Setup? And is it safe to assume you've tried different Video Renderers in SageTV Detailed Settings (VMR9, Overlay, Default)?

If it's an ATI or nVidia graphics card, be sure you have the latest driver from the ATI or nVidia web site. Make sure you have a H.264 decoder and that it's set in SageTV Detailed Settings. Also, try playing around with the FSE (Full Screen Exclusive) mode setting in Detailed Settings to see if that helps. And if you still have problems after checking all of that, try enabling the SageTV debug logging in the Detailed Settings (requires a restart after turning it on). Once debug logging is on, try playing an HD-PVR recording. Then you can examine the log (or post it here) and that may give you a clue about why the playback graph is failing.
