6.5.18RC latest STV and Re-Mapping

Andy,

A Request.....

I just did a complete rescan with my 4x HDHRs with the latest RC and the latest STV.

Nice job on the new way to re-map. Laid out much better than before.

Only thing that drove me bonkers is when you rescan your HDHR with its software then to the rescan in Sage, all the channel numbers go back to default. I accept this and am used to it. However, since all 63 of my HD and QAM channels are in the 200's, I need to re-map most of them to match their SD counterparts, which tend to be earlier in the lineup. Again, no big deal.

What's driving me bonkers is when I do a logical channel map, Sage now leaves me in the lineup at the re-map point, not at the original point. So when I'm logically re-mapping 60+ channels I have to keep scrolling, over and over, through the channel lineup just to map the next one. If it left you at the OLD point, I could just keep hitting NEXT channel.

Since this is for QAM: did you configure the channels with the numbers you wanted to use in the HDHR's channel editor? If so, it is supposed to try to preserve those numbers in SageTV, especially if you set up the HDHR with the option to use no lineup & have it simply match to channels on other existing lineups. If that is what you are doing, maybe it is giving too much priority to the existing number for the already-enabled channel... in which case, before doing a full scan, disable all channels so that only the channels found by the scan get enabled.

Channel Setup re-sorts its channel list when you enter the menu, so you could try sorting by channel name or description so the current channel's location doesn't move. The same goes for the Remap menu -- sort the channels by some other criteria while changing their numbers. (The Scan Results menu only sorts by number, though.)

BTW: we're also going to try skipping the part of setting focus back to the channel you were on after leaving the remap menu. That might work better in terms of staying close to the next channel to be remapped.
