Exclamation Placeshifter login problems.. - FIXED

I recently reinstalled XP and imported my Wiz.bin and properties file. Everything came back up great except that I can't connect to my Placeshifter via the locator ID (but it does work when it finds it on my local network). I confirmed my locator ID.

I get the login screen, but when I enter my user and password and hit login, it doesnt log in, but it also doesn't error out. I confirmed that the user and password are active in the settings. I'm stumped, but with a lot of upcoming travel, I need to get this working. Ideas or thoughts before I reach out to Sage support

You 'confirmed' your locator id, but did you 'test' it successfully with Sage's server? It sounds like Placeshifter can't get through to your server from the internet, usually a port forwarding problem.

I'm thinking you may have changed a path between your reinstall so the STV location for that user may be incorrect. Try setting the STV for the user you're logging in as in the Servers section of Detailed Setup and see if that fixes it. It's not a locator ID issue because you're actually connecting and seeing the login screen.

That was it!

Thanks!

How did you change the user again? I'm having the same problem? I went into the Detailed setup and then to server and removed my user and redid it. Still does not work. And yes I did test and everything works.

Exactly same problem here. I have tried deleting and then re-adding the user and password but continue to get an "invalid username and password" error. Anything new on this problem?

EDIT - Also, I have set "Allow Placeshifter Clients to Automatically Log In" to NO, but the Automatically Login checkbox still shows up on the Placeshifter login window. Seems strange/wrong.

Something that I found after a couple of tries - when I'm entering the username and password on the server, and want to key a NUMBER into either, it starts with a LETTER or SYMBOL first... keep pressing the same letter key until you cycle through the symbols to the number. I can't remember exactly what all the combinations are on each number key.

Watch your screen closely... this drove me NUTS for a long time, because I had to keep setting the UID and PWD, then wait until I left the house to get an external connection to my home network.

Different solution

I had the same login problems. I had the userid and paswword right as well as the address of the server. I got the login page but couldn't get in.

1 - have same client server. I had 6.6.1 on the server and 6.6.2 on the client. Turns out you I needed 6.6.2 on both.

2 - Include the Sage TV id. Even though the Placeshifter can find the server, it seems to need the ID anyway.

It looks great now.
