Jerky Blu-ray playback from Windows Home Server to HD-200 Extender - SOLVED
I have a Liteon blu-ray drive in my Windows Home Server along with AnyDVDHD. Hard drive based blu-rays play flawlessly on my HD-200 extender -- latest beta, SageTV 6.5.17 on WHS.
When I try and play a blu-ray directly on the drive to the extender, playback is jerky -- jerky as in play, pause, play, pause play, pause etc. Audio and video. Eventually playback smoothes out to normal for a bit then back to the problem. Identical problem for any blu-ray I play directly from the drive. Normal DVD however plays flawlessly from the Liteon drive to the extender. |

my guess is the bd drive isnt reading the disc fast enough... i know seems weird.. i have a panasonic bdc-202? that is supposedly 5x.. what i didnt realize is that its only speced as 2x on dual layer discs and during actual ripping i only get about 4 mb/s (1x according to the bluray disc speed is 4.5 mb/s).. and it takes 2.5-3.5 hours to rip the disc... so ANNOYING.. anyway ive learned my lesson and will do better research next time.

DMT,
One thing you can try is setting this property: miniplayer/forced_max_push_size=32768 on the server in the Sage.properties file (do it while SageTV is not running). That'll use smaller buffer sizes for sending data to the extender and that *might* work better with reading directly from the driver itself.

Narflex,
Just did a quick test, it worked. I set the property miniplayer/forced_max_push_size=32768 per your recommendation. Tonight I will test further, watching Frost/Nixon directly from the BD drive. Wonderful not having to buy a blu-ray player, I will purchase another HD-200 instead. Thanks for sharing your expertise. Dave

I had the same issue and thought it was down to my blu-ray drive being USB.
It now plays perfectly. Thank you |

Same setting even made all my blu-ray rips play well on the HD100s - which previously didn't work at ALL.
btl.

I was trying to play a ripped version of Transformers to my HD200 tonight and it was stuttering pretty bad. I added in this setting and it got better but not good enough to have the wife say enough... Normal DVD playback is fine and I can play HD recordings fine. Any other ideas.
