HD-200 stopped working with Software/Firmware upgrade

I have been using the HD-200 for a couple of months now as an extender. It has worked ok but with the usual minor problems. A couple of weeks ago I stated using the beta versions of software for both the SageTV server and the HD-200 Firmware. Wednesday I upgraded to the .17 software beta and the 609 firmware beta. Initially everything seemed to work ok. However after shutting the system down and later restarting it the HD-200 would not boot it only showed the SageTV logo on the screen and after ten minutes I figured something was wrong. After several hard restarts (un plugging the HD-200 ) I did manage to get it back. During this process I noticed it was not showing up on the Vista network devices whereas before it was. After it was restored (not really knowing why it came back to life) I watched TV for about two hours with no problems . I ten shut the Hd-200 off an on to see if it was working ok. This time if came back but not as a network device, meaning that although it show the standalone media server menu the Weather Icon was blank and when I tried to do a update it showed no information on any of the weather screen. I tried doing and firmware update and that failed as well. So it appeared that it lost it network connection. Prior to this software and firm ware update this never happened.

SO should I try to reinstalled the previous working beta Server software and is there a way to revert back to a previous version of firmware. I am assuming that since I did get it back at one point the box itself is not broken. Any help on the best way to proceed would be appreciated.

I have read the recent threads here with similar problems but they don't seem to offer any solutions do far.

Same things's happened on my HD200. I went back to the 0505 release of firmware and it seems to be working fine now. Open a bug if you haven't already!

I've tried various combinations through 6.5.17 and nothing works 100%. My current setup is 6.5.9 and 20090429 which works sorta. WAF is bad.

i stay away from beta releases even though some of the features are tempting to have. Unless you are OK with losing the system stability, you should leave the testing to others.

To reset the hd200, you have to hold a button (can't remember which one) on the HD200 while you power it up. Look in the HD 200 manual for details.

I did reset the HD-200 as I could not get it back on the network. That worked fine and I upgraded to the the current firmware which was two version later in two days. So software is beta 6.5.17 and firmware is Beta 20090611 1. All seems ok as of now but its only been a day.

tahoetim, I'm having lockup/disconnect problems with the current 'stable' releases 6.5.9 and 20081230. The 'beta' releases may solve some problems but introduce worse problems in my recent experience. Is this the best I can do?

Try unplugging it & plugging it back in and see this FAQ (scroll down in the linked post):

followed the instructions and tried method 2, downgrading from the server. No dice.

I have opened a ticket via tech support. Look forward to getting the 200 working again.

I got mine working by using the Configuration Reset Procedure in the manual. You might want to try that.

I've tried holding the Back button (while power cycling and holding), the Delete button (while power cycling and holding), and power cycles with various combinations of audio, video, and/or network plugged & unplugged.

I have an open ticket they're looking in to.
