Windows7 and SageTV 6.5.9 problem with Media Player

Well Windows 7 RC1 looks like a winner, so does SageTV
BUT
I can't get them to work together. When you watch TV media player launches! Of course nothing plays, can't actually watch TV but the media center interface runs. Any idea on how to stop that?

Disable all of the Winsows Media Center services and quit pressing the Green button on your remote until you do. (Or uninstall Windows Media Center on your WIndows 7 installation.)

Rolf that's it, the big green button!

It still displays "no signal" though even on know good channels.

Back to XP for now.

Yes, I had the same problem with Windows7 RC--just got "no signal" everytime in SageTV. Finally went back to XP. It is strange since other people here mention using Sage and W7; just can't get a straight answer out of anyone on this.

Well I put XP back on and it's working again. Sometimes it seems like Sage is so easy to break if you change video drivers.
Just before I flushed the old XP (Sage broke when I installed a new ATI 4550 fanless HDMI to upgrade the just barely couldn't keep up 3300HD) I installed the beyondTV trial & the Hauppauge WINTV7 and for some reason Sage now showed an EVR option in the Video settings. I'll experiment tomorrow.

Well... if you ever try Windows 7 again...

I was initially having issues with my new system which I built using Windows 7 RC. My luck improved after downloading WinTV v7 (right on the front page of the Hauppauge website) and installing the drivers from the WinTV v7 package which it looks like you've tried (how did that pan out?). The other key to getting things going to was download the video card and chipset drivers directly from the manufacturer which in my case is NVIDIA (my board has an NVIDIA 9400 chipset which has integrated graphics). NVIDIA had a very recent update for supporting Windows 7. I checked the ATI website and they do list drivers in their download section for the ATI4550 chipset and Windows 7. You might also want to check what chipset your Asus board is using and download the drivers directly from the chipset manufacturer instead of downloading the drivers from Asus (unless Asus has released a recent update specifically supporting Windows 7).

Cheers, Joe
