Periodic failures

I have installed Sage 6.5.9 server onto Debian Etch. I also have 6.5.9 client on WIndows XP. My capture device is a HDHome run. This was working for a while. However, recently sage server has begun failing at least once a day (I see it everytime I get home from work and open client). I leave the client on all the time. When I maximize, it will have a multitude of:

There was a capture error in playback. Details:
Error (-4,0x18): There was a problem using the capture device.....

Then, if I try to play a recorded show I get:

There was a playback error in playback: Details:
Sage.playbackexception: Error (-3,0x80004005): There was a problem accessing the file system for playback.

The cure is to stop sagve server and start it back up. Of course, no shows are recorded from when the error happens until I restart the server. Then it works again for a little while. I am at at a lose. What should I check? Where are the logs kept in the linux version? What details should I post to help others help me? Any advice, direction, or pointers are greatly appreciated!!

Log file

In the sage\server directory there are sagetv_#.txt files. Here is a snipet:

<snip>

Wed 6/3 14:00:00.190 MediaFile unable to create file for next segment:java.io.IOException: Too many open files
</snip>

The files have loads of "HDHRCaptureDevice->doTuneChannel" until suddenly there's a "too many open files" error. After that, nothing works, and "too many open files" keeps happening. What could cause this?

I'm having this issue now unfortunately after upgrading to the latest sagetv beta -

it fixed my hdhomerun issue with 2x hdhomeruns, however I now get this error about once every few days.

"too many open files"
