Channel Change Failures
I have TimeWarner Cable with a DCT5000 set top box.
Has anyone else had problems with channel changes failing? If so, do you have any recommendations on how to troubleshoot? I'm using the USB-UIRT box. Thanks, Rob

I have a dishnetwork box and sometimes about twice a week when I select a channel from the channel guide, it selects the wrong channel.
I think this has something to do with the 3-4 digit selection with the dish box. I've fooled around with the settings in SageTV but to no avail.

Yes I have had intermittant problems with that.
I use Girder and use SendMessage commands to Sage. However, I use the uu_irsage.dll which lets Sage access the USB-UIRT to blast the STB for channel change (others use exetuner plugin I guess). When it quits working, I find Girder to be OK and issuing commands to Sage but nothing seems to be going from Sage to the USB-UIRT for blasting. I have to close and restart Sage or the whole system to regain channel control. Lately, has not been good for WAF. I rolled back from 4.1.8 to 4.1.3.67 thinking I had not seen that problem in that rev. but just got a case of it this morning. Yikes! DFA

Update:
I have found that my channel change problem is NOT Sage related. I am having an intermittant failure of my "zone" version USB-UIRT. After some testing and substituting an older USB-UIRT non-zone version of USB-UIRT that I have had in retirement, I have found that the problem is with my newer USB-UIRT: it is failing and doing so intermittanly. Just wanted to clear up that my problem was not any fault of Sage for anyone else reading this thread and having some sort of channel change problem. DFA

What do you mean by a "zone" version of the USB-UIRT and what can be done to fix that?
Thanks, Mike |

The USB-UIRT since about ayear or so ago have the capabilty of blasting up to 3 distinct 'zones' or seperate blasts.

Earlier versions of USB-UIRT had the ability to support remote emitters but were not able to be seperately controlled. Late USB-UIRT versions have 3 zones which refers to individual control of IR emitters (main emitter and 2 - remote emitters).
Mine is crapping out (failing). What you do for that is replace it. USB-UIRT is sending me a replacement. DFA
