Tuners don't switch back to HD - HDHomeRun?

Hi,

Usually, I'm using SageTV to watch recorded TV and not often live TV. However, last night, I wanted to watch the NBA finals while doing some work so I brought up SageTV and tuned it to the SD broadcast (TNT?) since ClearQAM can't pick up the HD version of TNT.

I watched the game just fine but then, this morning, I pulled up SageTV to check something out on the HD channel and tuned to ABC HD.

It seems that Sage then changed the Cable tuner to 805 (ABC HD) but continued to display it through the SD broadcast. It didn't display either of the HD tuners on my HomeRun?

I know my tuners and channels are mapped correctly but it seems that SageTV is 'stuck' with the SD channels?

Any help here?

My concern, obviously, is that upcoming recordings will pick up the HD version.

First off, are you sure that ABC HD was actually being broadcasted in HD this morning? Often times due to weather or other issues, my locals are nothing more than SD on the "HD" channel. Secondly, do you have 805 mapped to your SD tuners? None of my HD channels are mapped to any SD tuner so that if I tune an HD channel, only my HD capture devices will tune those. This guarentees that I always get the HD version when I tune that channel. I assume you have an STB of some type and have all channels mapped to your SD capture card (meaning than you have 805 mapped to tune both HD thru the HDHomerun and 805 mapped to your SD capture card via the STB). Also, have you set your tuner merits so that the HDHomerun is your tuner of preference when any channels overlap?

Edit: I also found it was more helpful to have my ABC 5 mapped to 5.1 rather than 805 (as well as NBC 813 to 13.1, CBS 808 to 8.1,etc.). It is easier to find in the guide data. You can do this by simply by using the Change Logical Mapping in the channel setup. This is just my preference anyway.

Yes, I am sure I was looking at an HD show. It was Good Morning America (and others) and I verified on a cable box that it was broadcast in HD. I also just tried this with "24". Listed on FOXHD but when SageTV brings it up, it's the wrong screen ratio and the call sign just says "FOX25". Usually, they have a sign that indicates it's HD.

As far as I'm aware, my HD channels are mapped to my HD tuners.

I had the HDHomeRun firmware problem a couple of weeks ago and had to upgrade SageTV. This meant that I had to go through and delete my scn and frq files, rescan my tuners and try again.

Once I got my HD channels working, I scanned the SD tuner and got those settled. That was actually a chore. For some reason, they kept messing up the mapping even though I was choosing the right cable options.

Once I got that worked out, it was all fine. I had even watched an SD channel or two and watched HD as well. Now it's like HD doesn't exist.

I purposely did not map the HD channels to the SD tuner.

Confusing.
