How do I recover customizations for a new installation?

I had a previous installation of SageTV (V6.5.15) on my PC. I just moved a ton of videos over to my WHS server, so I followed the Opus4's directions for moving videos (Described here).

However, I had a ton of manual customizations in my old installation that appear to be lost now. I need to bring them over to the new installation. How do I do this? I have a full copy of my old installation's "Program Files\SageTV" root directory, so I can go completely back to that one, if necessary.

What is the best option:

1) What do I need to pull from the old installation to the new installation? (Specifically, video source information & selected channels).
2) Or, if I want to get the WHS-relocated videos recognized by my old installation (and recopy my old installation back), what do I remove from the sage.properties file to allow me to use the advanced_video_file_recovery=true setting on my old installation?

Thanks!

I think your safest option is to reinvent the wheel -- re-install any customizations, rebuild your channel lineup, and reprogram your Favorites...

Rats.

That was easily a couple of weeks of work and tweaking to get everything set up working properly.

If there aren't any better options, I will need to move all my recordings back off my WHS Server and onto my PC again, and then bring back my saved-off installation directory. My wife would decapitate me if she thought I would be spending that much time reconfiguring the system.

Aren't there just a few lines (if any) that would need to be modified in the sage.properties file to allow it to be used to detect the new stored recording location?

What would happen if I just set advanced file recovery "on" with my old installation and a new recording directory listing?

Others have done that, just copied the original install folder and then re-ran the install program which treats the installation as an upgrade. However I'm not sure if that was on a different system or not. If it was after an OS change the properties file for the main sage install should be similar, otherwise I'm not sure how well this would work moving to a new system.

You can always give it a try, but there's every possibility that you'll spend just as much time trying to fix any issues from the transfer as you would just installing fresh and re-configuring the install.

You may be able to do a fresh install to properly set up the sage.properties file and copy stvis and add-ons from the previous install, along with the properties files for the clients/extenders and eliminate having to re-configure everything.
