Why is SageTV resetting my system clock?

Just installed and now working software however I just noticed the time was off. Then I noticed my system (winxp) clock had been changed. I can reset the system time and it will just get reset. I can reboot after chaning my time in windows but if I start the software, Beta 2 by the way, then it resets after about 10 seconds. It will initially show the correct time in Sage, but then change it within the UI and on my system. This is obviously unacceptable behavior and I didn't see anything obvious in the UI to make changes. Ideas?

Well if your clock ISN'T correct, its not going to record shows correctly.

If you really want to override it, go to detailed setup -> general -> disable sync system clock with sageTV clock.

Look in the options. There is an option to sync your time with the Sage TV server. Turn it off.

Thanks gp. Exactly what I was looking for. Just missed it in the setup though it still shouldn't changing my system clock. I am using the beta so I guess that is a bug they'll work out.

If you're runnin XP and you're connected to the Internet it should sync it for you. How much difference was there? If you start to notice recordings starting early/late or ending early late you might want to recosider. I think the Sage servers time is set to to have it match the major stations/providers.

I would guess Sage is in Cali. The difference was two hours. I am in the central time zone. It's fine. I just disabled the server, which in my opinion should be disabled by default, not to mention it should NOT reset windows settings.

I've never had that problem and I'm in Iowa. Do you have Windows set to Central Time? (I think it defaults Pacific).

Ha. That is too funny. I am a tech for crying out loud. This was a throw away machine I ended up putting the Hauppauge and software on, so I guess I just went through setup quickly. Anyway, it was on pacific time. Doh! Thanks, now if I can just get the rest of this app working I'll be golden.

I thought it was a little odd to see a complaint about Sage's time sync (never seen one before) but when you said it reset to Pacific time a light just went off.

Glad to hear you have it working.
