How do I switch channels in sage TV

I just installed the trial.. but having the problem switching channels. I can do only page up page down. No way I can enter the channel number and hit the "enter" key. The third digit (minor) never got the input..

Sure you guys have solved this problem.....any hint?

I think we need a bit more info. What are you capturing from? OTA, Cable, Set top box? What are you using to change channels? What is your setup like?

Sage is setup for 2 digit channel codes by default. You need to change it to accept longer channel codes.


Hey, Sage -- I think it's time to change the default to 4 digit (##-#) channel entry.

It sounds like SageTV is not automatically detecting the max length of your channel numbers correctly. You can enter a number to override the auto-detect value in Detailed Setup -> Customize -> Channel Entry Options -> Max Channel Digits. I'm guessing it is incorrectly auto-detecting a value of 2, but you happen to need 3 or 4.

Edit: I figured out why it wasn't detecting the correct number of max digits in channel numbers, so that part should work better in the next beta.

Note that dashes don't count as part of the number of digits entered, so something like 50-2 is counted as 3 digits.

And, there is no default preset for the number of digits; it is automatically detected.

Thanks, Opus4. I changed the channel digits to be 3 or 4. But still, I can only input two digits before '-' using my keyboard.. The digit after '-' never shows up.. For example, if I enter '173' to choose '17-3', it will only show '17-', and nothing happens when I hit the enter key to select...

Any help?

No worries.. problem solved.. I accidentally set the keyboard '-' to something else..

Now I need to check how '-' is entered through ATI remote controller..

BTW, my ATI 650 tuner give me 900 channels, most of them only has a name of 'DTV ##-#'... How should figure them out? The mapping on silicondust is not correct..

If it doesn't send characters, then there is a SageTV command called '-' (command number 95) that you can have remotes send.

There should be existing discussions in the EPG forum section, but essentially you need to remap the stations -- see "Remapping Stations for EPG data using ATSC or QAM Digital Tuners" on page 164 of the v6.5 PDF manual.
