HDHR 20090415 no gui on Server 2003?

So, I "upgraded" to the 20090415 (the current official package) and now my Sage server running Server 2003 is completely unable to use the HDHR. I can't get the config or setup GUIs to come up, and while Sage can "see" the two tuners, it can't actually tune them. My Vista laptop seems to work without issue though.

Any thoughts?

I'm running the same version on WHS without an issue. Maybe try a repair of the install? I thought at one time one of the Visual C++ redistributables was required. (2005 or 2008, both of which I have installed.)

I've repaired, uninstalled, reinstalled, about 10 times, all to no effect. I put the previous version I had saved back on (apparently 20090214beta1) and all is well again. Well except for the power supply (new design) that's dead

Oh, and I've got both 2005 and 2008 VC++ installed as well. Guess I'll see what Silicondust says about it.

not sure whats causing your issue... but just as a point of reference. I use win2003 R2 SP2 and upgraded to the 20090415 0 drivers right when they came out and all went smoothly. I upgraded right over the old ones per usual and everything seemed to work. I did notice that the sagetv (not client) process was consuming a ridicules amount of CPU cycles (25-50% on a Q6600). A restart of the server fixed that issue. Don't know if it matters but i only use my HDHR's for OTA. I seem to vaguely remember that something changed recently with QAM tuning and SCN or FRQ files and all the setup happening within Sage?

Oh, I see you're R2, which service pack? I'm pretty sure my version is "R1", and it's SP1 tops. And what exactly is R2, is it just 2003 + SP2 or is it like "2004"?

R2, is its' own release, released 2005 is more then just adding sp1. I run R2 with SP2 without issues... I would test the system's ram and hard drive for errors, that could be causing the HDHR software to not install correctly. Also, I do not know what you run, but removing anti-virus products for testing would be a GREAT idea...

it was an update to Win 2003 SP1

from the wikipedia page:
Quote:
Windows Server 2003 R2, an update of Windows Server 2003, was released to manufacturing on 6 December 2005. It is distributed on two CDs, with one CD being the Windows Server 2003 SP1 CD. The other CD adds many optionally installable features for Windows Server 2003. The R2 update was released for all x86 and x64 versions, but not for Itanium versions.
The wikipedia page also has a full list of changes:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Server_2003
from the wiki page I don't see anything that jumps out in the list of R2 updates that would mess with the HDHR... maybe something in SP2...

So in summary my understanding:

Win 2003 R2 = Win 2003 SP1 + R2

Win 2003 SP2 = Win 2003 R2 + SP2

I am running Win 2003 SP2.

Oh yes I do not run or have installed any antivirus/spyware/malware products on my server.

Yeah, that's what I thought, kind of like 98SE.

Which I don't have on that machine It's really odd, because every previous version I ran worked fine
