I think my PVR-350 is about to die
Hi,
I've had a PVR-350 in my media server (2.4-p4 w/ 2GB ram) for quite a few years now (Since Sage v4) and over the last 5 months or so the picture quality has gone down. I attributed it to interference due to the snowey style interference which I was able to correct for by rerouting cables away from each other etc. In the last couple of weeks I am getting tearing or pulling of the video signal from the right to left along multiple horizontal lines, audio is not affected. Also playback of previously recorded shows, from before this started, play back perfectly. I bought quad shielded RG6 cable (6' length) but it didn't improve anything. I also noticed that the picture looks the same way when accessing the built in menus on my Dish Network STB so it leads me to believe it isn't a signal strength issue. When I plug the TV out cable from the STB into my TV directly instead of via the Sage box, the picture looks perfect. Does this sound like a PVR-350 on the way out or still some kind of interference? I was planning on going to HDTV this winter and getting a HD-PVR but right now I only have a SD TV. Is my only route this point to go with a HVR-1600 (assuming the pvr-350 is faulty)? I also noticed 3 part numbers for the 1600, I assume get the highest part number one and not a MC/MCE version? Thanks! Chad

Update: I put the card in another computer and continued to get a messy screen with the RF input. I saw my STB had a s-video out and used that instead and the picture looks perfect. So, no idea exactly what is going on but at least the problem is solved.
