Can I clone settings from server to client?
Is it possible to clone the commands mapping (with keystrokes) I have on a server, to a client on another PC?
Where are the associations stored? I had a look into the properties files but I seem to see nothing. Thanks. |

in the sageclient.properties file of your SageTV folder of your server. You can copy that file over to the client PC's SageTV folder, overwrite the exisiting file.

To get the same settings that the server has you can simply copy the sageclient.properties file in the server directory to the client?
Is that correct? That includes all the settings (i.e. My TV, My Videos, Detailed Settings etc) ? |

Copying the whole properties file is only going to work if all the paths it contains are the same as the PC it came from, otherwise you run the risk of creating unintended problems that you'll then have to solve. You are better off copying only the properties you need.
I think the keystrokes linked to commands use the keyboard_accelerators property; IR codes are linked using the ui/rc_mappings/<command name> proeprties. sflamm: SageMC has some options for copying SageMC-specific settings. Please use the SageMC forum for that discussion. - Andy

If one has two installations, 1 sagetv server and 1 sagetv client - in the standard directories (i.e. "c:\program files\sagetv") and all import directories and recording directories are using UNC paths, then is it true that one can simply copy the file sageclient.properties from the server directory to the client?
Or are there other potential issues? The paths can be checked by simply examining the sage.properties file, yes? |

It's not just file paths. There are other machine-specific settings in there such as display aspect ratio, codec selections, IR receiver config, and so on. Third-party plugins can also use the properties file to store their settings, which could conceivably include machine-specific dependencies.
The bottom line is that properties files are not meant to be copied wholesale from one machine to another. If you think it can be done safely in your case, that's your call, but nobody's going to give you a guarantee. The safest approach, as Andy said, is to copy over just the individual property settings you need, and leave behind anything you don't understand.
