Anyone tried the AVerMedia AVerTVHD Duet yet?

Looks like a pretty good internal dual digital tuner. Especially since the egg is selling them for $60! Also would work better on my mobo. There is no mini-plug socket that would interfere with the poor placement of a capacitor right next to the second pci-e slot!

I'm interested in this also. There was some discussion about the Dvico Fusion7 dual tuner card a while back where apparently is wasn't working properly and I'm not sure what ever became of it. Having 2 tuners in one card supported would be great.

I'll let you know how it works out. I ordered one to test out. Going to try with XP. I know there are issues with QAM and XP, but we'll see.

I can't seem to find them on Newegg anymore? In any case, it sounds like the HVR-2250 is definitely already supported by Sage so I may go that way (it also does analog but is a lot more money).

It's currently showing as "deactivated" at the 'Egg'. Usually means just out of stock, but time will tell. My personal opinion is that I'd sooner get this card than an Hauppauge just because of the seemingly endless driver complications with Hauppauge - like having to use the driver cleaner applcation to uninstall, limited memory support, ir reciever conflicts, etc.

I was wondering what deactivated meant. Wondering of there was a recall on the card or something. If this does work, looks like I'll try to set up a server and get an additional HD200. I have a skt 939 dual core box lying around. Just need to see if I can run cat5 through my walls from the basement w/o having to cut into much if at all.

The duet showed up yesterday. I need to dig through the closet to find all the junk to put my box back together and load Vista. Might take a week but i'll report what I find. For those of you who have a mobo with an obstructed pci-e 1X slot (I have the Foxconn NF4UK8AA), this card should fit. There are no extras on this card to get in the way of the capacitor that sits on the edge of the mobo.

Only been toying around with it for about an hour. Sage can see the tuners and I sometimes get signals up to 90%, then drops out. I've never had any luck with digital tuners though anyway. I have never really gotten the M780 to work that well anyway. I'll keep playing and see what happens.

Works Great

Everything works great. I just have to remap the channels. I get 100% signal. Going to put the M780 back in and see how they play together.

So, Sage sees both tuners and can use them with no problems? Can you record from both at the same time? Thanks.

I does see both tuners. I haven't tried to record anything yet, but I wouldn't think there would be any issues since it sees both. I didn't have to do anything special in order for the tuners to show up. Just installed the card and drivers then fired up Sage. When I tried the M780 alone last night, I ended up with a few scaling errors. I used the dump file on the sticky and all seemed to work fine.

Keep in mind I do have the attention span of a gnat and I don't always read things through to try and figure out what is going on. I had Sage and the M780 for a year or two and never really tried to set it up correctly. If something went wrong, I just threw in it the closet and went with the Comcrap DVR. Most of the time, it was not having the patience to wait for the digital channel scan. These days, saving money is the way to go, so patients pays. After the initial costs of purchasing everything, it will be worth it.

Forgot to mention, all signals were 100%. Not sure if other tuners do this, but if there is no channel detected, it will default to one of the digital music stations.

I exclusively watch OTA digital tv so I would be interested in hearing how this tuner compares to Hauppauge cards (signal strength, quality, etc.) if anyone has tried it with OTA. Also, does the driver support 2 of these in the same PC such that Sage will see all 4 tuners?

have 2 cards installed and sees all 4

I installed a second card today and am still configuring the channel mapping. I'm starting to get a little frustrated. The user guides that are posted throughout the forums are a good start. I somehow miss a bunch of channels on the remap. I am mapping through the hd200 and not the server. Does that matter?

Do all of the analog stations have a corresponding digital? for instance, I get Ion on Halmark (for example) listing and I can remap it to the proper channel in the guide. When I do that, does the original channel that was in Ion's place get moved somewhere else in the guide or just disappear altogether?

SageTV does see all 4 tuners.

I live in Baltimore and get in the neighborhood of 160 channels on Comcrap. Some are duplicates. Still weeding through. I'll post ion the correct forum of what I get once I weed everything out.

The colors do seem a little washed out. Had to go back and adjust the TV.

I installed it in Vista and so far so good, note that the OS wont pick up the drivers on its own from the driver folder - you have to run the exe from the corresponding folder. Sage picked it up two tuners without any problems.

This is really a nice Dual tuner with a very good price tag, probably since they skipped the useless analog, I got it from Amazon. This replaces the HVR-950Q USB tuner which sometimes seemed buggy, but that has been my general experience with external USB tuners they are just not as reliable as the PCI/PCI-E cards.

I'm quite impressed with it!

I have 2 cards set up and running. I only have 1 HD200 so I'm still playing around and trying to teach the wife how to use it before I buy more and run cat 5. Tahoetim hit the nail on the head in bleedlebum's thread, start slow, get it running, get the WAF up and take off running!

Can anyone comment on the ClearQAM capability of this card ?

Two of the reviews on newegg.com list problems with getting ClearQAM to work (one guy said it didn't work at all, the other said ClearQAM drops out frequently where the Haup 2250 card in same PC is fine).

It seems like a great card for $60, but I need a card where the QAM is 'solid'.

Thanks.

Honestly, I'm not sure which channels are QAM or not. Not that savvy. I do get about 50-60 channels; Halmark, Ion, HGTV, TCM, AMC, USA, CW, Spike, Disney, Food, all the digital music channels, ect. I haven't had any problems with anything. I've only recorded one show while watching another, so I haven't even tested all four tuners to their potential. I've had no crashes, hangs, hiccups, or anything of the like. The color do seem a little washed out but that may be my video card (?). Still tweaking the TV.

Well, I finally tried one of these. I really like the small size of this card but it unfortunately does not tune OTA quite as well as my HDHomerun. I'm guessing this is because I use a powered splitter that feeds each HDHR input separately whereas the Avermedia card has an internal splitter that happens after the amplification. Oh well, I guess I will have to send it back...

I put one of these cards in my Win7/SageTV server test machine. I live in Miami, just about 12 miles from all of the local digital towers. With a $5.00 set of rabbit ears (uhf/vhf) I get all of my OTA HiDef locals and the video/audio is just as good as my Hauppauge HVR-1800 or my HVR-2250 w the outside HD antenna.

An issue did just come up. I have been playing around with different plug-ins and STV's and screwed up Sage. I ended up uninstalling, deleting the folder, and reinstalling Sage .16 beta. I reconfigured the first 2 tuners fine. Scanning tuners 3 or 4 however cause Sage to lock up or just shut down. Still figuring that one out.
