Auto compress: dialogue only out of one channel

Hey Everyone,

Not sure if the auto compress feature is a part of SageMC or part of the core but I saw some posts about it here so I thought this is where I would start. (If I'm wrong please move the thread to the correct forum).

Basically, I am trying to (auto) convert a show that was recorded with the Firewire output on my Motorola Cable Box. The recording itself works GREAT! I love that I can record the HD and it is the reason that I switched from VMC.

Anyway, when ever I try to convert a file that was recorded in the above fashion (to MPEG4) using one of the default encoding profiles, the dialogue is all shifted to the left channel. The file is still identified as being 6 channel AC3 but something is getting shifted during the transcoding process.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there any way that I can troubleshoot this? What actually does the encoding?

Thanks for the help.

I am having the same problem when compressing the files. I think it has something to do with the avi container not supporting AC3 properly but I just haven't gotten around to change the profile to change it to 2 channel. What would be best is to be able to convert the stuff into an MKV without having to jump through hoops for the video conversion tool...

It's strange because the 5.1 is in there

I can see that the 5.1 data is in there the mix is just a little off.

I've been thinking it might be better if I used this:

Ideas

Does anyone else have ideas about this? I'd really like to get it working.

Thanks
