Comskip and Sage Client
I have installed Comskip on my Sage Server and when I play a file on the server I can see the tic marks for commercials and it is working on the Sage server for playback.
Then I installed the ComSkip Playback Import on the Sage Client. I have imported the Sage Plugin - ComSkip Playback Import but when I play on it the client I don't see any thing marked for the commercials. Can someone help me with geting it working on Sage Client? What is the install procedure for Sage Client? I have searched and can't find anything specific to Sage Client. Thanks Scat

You need to use UNC paths for your recording directories. Your UNC path should point to the server hostname and not localhost. So your path should be something similar to \\Server\Videos\SageTV and not \\localhost\Videos\SageTV.

What do the UNC paths have to do with playing the file on the client? The client works fine except I want to have ComSkip Playback ability. Scat

The STV import has to read the .edl or .txt file. It will look at the recordings directory for these files. If the path is set to localhost, then the client will look to itself, and the files don't exist there. That's why it will work on the server, but not the client. I had the same problem when I first started using comskip and there are a couple threads here that cover the same topic.

e:\videos\myvideo.mpg e:\videos\myvideo.edl or \\server\videos\myvideo.mpg \\server\videos\myvideo.edl In the Video detail it will show the path that the server is required for the edl file. The FAQs have instructions on how to change the paths to existing recordings. John |

I changed my Sage Client
Setup > Detailed Setup > General > Video Recording Directories From: D:\SageTV Video To: \\HTPC\d\SageTV Video and then exited Sage and restarted Sage and still when I play a video that I know Comskip has processed, I don't see any thing marked for the commercials. Scat

You need to follow the instructions in the FAQ for setting up UNC recording directories AND moving recording directories.

Scat - this will only work on new recordings - try a new recording to see if it works. You will have to "move" your recordings as the path to the file is saved in wiz.bin and it will still have the old path. You will have to change the folder name and have wiz.bin reread the path names - there are a few threads here that deal with how to do this.
