SageMC and Comskip on client

I have SageMC running on the server PC and and commercial skipping works great when watching a recorded show. Works fine on my MediaMVP extender. But on my client pc running SageTV Client with SageMC I cannot get it to work. The Timebar is solid green without any commercial detection.
Is there something I need to configure on the client?

thanks
scott

your client needs direct access to the .edl/.txt comskip files. Rigth now, it doesn't have accessto the .edl file so it won't comskip. SageTV will stream the video through the server for the client, but not the .edl file. The Extender works because its UI is run through the server.

YOu need to either map the root of the server's recording drive to the same drive letter on the client. such as, If you record to E:/SageTVrecordings, then you need to share E: on the server and map that share to E: on the client.

Or else, you need to record using UNC paths. Share the SageTVrecordings forlder and set up the server to record to \\Server\SageTVrecordings . If you do that, the client will be able to access the .edl file via the UNC path. This will only work for new recordings. Old recordings will still show the E:\SageTVrecordings path and won't comskip, but the new stuff with the \\Server\SageTVrecordings will.

Thanks for the reply. I kind of guessed that and set it up with UNC paths yesterday, but none of the shows I viewed had the time stamps. It never occurred to me that I needed to wait until a new show had been recorded. Today I go into the client and the new shows are showing the commercial breaks. Problem solved.
