Sage Client and Comskip?
Ok, so I finally got all the hiccups out of the new setup, using a dedicated server, and the old server is powering the tv. I haven't tried the comskip files on the MVP's, but I just can't seem to get Comskip working on the Client box. It's working fine on the server, but not the client. Tried the default STV after loading the stuff for comskip, and tried SageMC also with no luck. Anyone have any ideas?

how are you accessing the recording directory? by sharename or drive letter? Your client needs direct access to the comskip files either by either sharename, or you have to drive map the same drive letter on your client that you use on the server.

For comskip to work on a client the files must be accesable from the same path on both the server and client. What that means is that if your recordings are set up on your E: of your server, when your client goes to get the comskip file it will look on its local E: which is wrong.
The way to get around this is to share your recording folders on the network and use UNC paths for your sage recording directories (i.e. \\Server\recordingFolder). That way the client can reach it at the same path.

That's about the dumbest thing I've ever heard of, but it did fix it. In a way I guess it makes sence, but it's crazy that the Placeshifter works out of the box, but not the client......

Placeshifter and Extender STV processing occur on the server itself, thus they have access to the same paths/files as the server does.
Client STV processing occurs on the client computer, thus the client STV(i) needs access to paths at the same location as the server sees them, because that's the only place it knows to look (the server doesn't know what the client's path might be). Client can play files without having mappings correct because the core is sophisticated enought to stream through the server if necessary. But comskip files can't be streamed, and they're processed by the STV not the core. |

I understand why, but it still seems stupid. I'm just glad it's working now. I had to screw around with Dirmon and Comskip forever (forgot to enable .edl format in comskip on the new install, and Dirmon wasn't seeing it and just looping all day long lol). After getting Dirmon and Comskip working again, all of a sudden it's not working on Client, kinda made me upset =]
