I've been following the thread on VideoReDo's forum about H.264 editting and DanR states that they

Yep. It's been in private beta for a while now. Shouldn't be too long now. I love VideoReDo and h.264 support will be really nice to have

I could swear that they said that H.264 was coming "soon" last November so I can't wait but I am not holding my breath.

Has anyone heard/know any additional information regarding the release of VRD's h.264 support?

They are starting a closed Alpha testing program right now. I do not know how many people were asked to participate, nor do I know how long that program will last before a beta is released.
But clearly they are making progress (even if slow and methodical) towards a final release.

For those who care.

FWIW - The current version of DVRMSToolbox can remove commercials from HDPVR files if you transcode to a different format (i.e. converting for mobile use). The next rev will do the same with uncompressed samples (i.e. no decoding/transcoding).

I was just poking around in VRD’s forum and it sounds more than likely they will have h.264 support before Christmas, so basically any time now… Hopefully

I am trying the VideoReDo beta. I haven't had a lot of time to edit the TS files, but I did try it out a bit. The VideoReDo beta does work to edit TS files. The editing is much more difficult to use, moving around to find the edit points, probably because of the compressed video format.
I haven't found any other editing software as good as the VideoReDo beta for editing TS files though. Dave |

is the beta open or closed?
i have a VRDplus license (never cared to upgrade to studio as i don't need any of the dvd/authoring capabilities) that i've used for occasional editing and plan to upgrade when they have VRDplus with h.264

To use the beta VideoReDo you have to own the VideoReDo TV Suite and request access to the beta with a private message to the user "phd". I don't know if it is still open for new people.
I started with the regular VideoReDo, and upgraded to the VideoReDo TV Suite later. I could have done it earlier and get a discount. The VideoReDo TV Suite has the built in burning software, which is nice. However, the VideoReDo TV Suite burning process is very slow. If you walk away and do something else, its fine. I don't burn very many DVDs except to watch videos at the extended family's homes who don't have SageTV, only a DVD player. Dave |

I will believe it when I see it I believe they first said "soon" in Nov 2008. And post 1 of this thread says that they were very close over 8 months ago.

It seems like it is entirely possible and even likely that they will release it next week for the low, low price of $1,000.00!
