Dual Screen?
Anyone using a touchscreen along with a projector or other large display with Sage?
I am looking for options to use my 7" touchscreen as the control in my theater... There are a couple problems with this... first is that windows does not allow for different resolutions for clone mode... Since the touchscreen is limited to 480x800 while the projector is 1080P this presents a bit of a problem. I am thinking of trying svideo out for the touchscreen - not ideal, but 480x800 would not be great for lots of detail anyway. In my usage case, I would never really want the media to play on the touchscreen display. It would be for scrolling through the menus and guide and then allowing playback control of the media on the projector. The projector would primarily show media, but would be nice if there was a button on the touchscreen to show its details on the projector. Especially cool with the fan art screens that have been built. It may be necessary to have separate "low res" and "high res" versions of the detail screens (omit description text for instance and using larger fonts for the low res). It might be easier to use another application running on extended desktop on the touchscreen (web interface for example) that would then control the client instance running on the projector. Since the web ui is a little lacking in splash, maybe there would be a way to tweak placeshifter client so it could push its commands to the media player in the client application (running on the same computer). Thinking out loud (???) here... to overcome the windows shortcoming, maybe use a media extender to run the projector and then use either the web UI or perhaps an enhanced Java application to drive the extender's instance? Sorry if this makes no sense, I am making it up as I go. |

You might wany to try 2 video cards. Your main, high-end good one going to your HDTV or projector and a cheap PCI card in an empty slot connected to your internal touchscreen. Now you can have 2 different resolutions. Also some mb have an internal video that can run simutaneously with the PCI-e graphics card. So you could do the same with that.
