m3u Playlists Not Seen In SageTV
I am trying to find a way to import my playlists from MediaMonkey to SageTV (for server use via HD200). I can export the playlists as m3u files. I created a playlists directory in my Music region of my HD (a region that is scanned by SageTV). When I go into music and playlists, the playlist isn't there. When I go to browse for it, it isn't listed either. I am attaching the file.
Any help would be appreciated. :-) p.s. The same Playlist directory also has a wpl in it as well. That, too, isn't being seen. Last edited by Rigwald; 03-09-2009 at 07:40 PM. |

I have the same problem with m3u playlists. I assumed it was a issue with them being non standard since I use a utility to convert them from itunes playlists. I just open them in Windows Media Player and then save them as a wpl playlist and Sage reads them fine. It just takes a second but it would be nice if the m3u worked it think m3u is supported.

For SageTV to import a playlist successfully, it has to be able to access not just the playlist file itself, but all the individual track files as well. If the playlist lists the tracks using local drive-letter file paths when Sage requires UNC paths, the playlist will not import. Likewise if the track names contain non-standard characters, the playlist may not import.
(And by the way, there is no playlist file attached to your post. You may need to zip it or rename it to .txt before attaching.)

What is a UNC path? The playlist (and files) are on my J: drive (on the PC the SageTV software is running). I went in and made sure the entire paths were there (instead of ...\Polish\etc...)

.wpl files don't seem to work for me all the time either. Some do, some don't, just like the m3u files. What does work for me is create a playlist(in sage) of the same name as my m3u file, then delete it. Then put my m3u file in a folder that sage can find it. Then my m3u playlist shows up, with the correct songs.

I have a folder on my hard drive called "MP3", which is mapped as a "music" folder in Sage. Within the "MP3" folder, there are a bunch of subfolders, by artist or genre or whatever. I created a subfolder called "playlists" (still under "MP3") and I save all my playlists there. Sage sees them and plays them just fine. I assume you did "Refresh Imported Media", right? Playlists are picked up on a scan just like new MP3 files....

That is how I have my setup. I have an area called mp3z and then a subfolder for genres, etc... (including one for playlists). Even after a media refresh, the attached m3u is not seen. Other lists (specific to certain cd's) are shown. Custom made ones that cover multiple folders are not seen. :-(

I think it might have something to do with the "#EXT" that is found before each enty:
#EXTM3U #EXTINF:201,Secondhand Serenade - Fall for You J:\Music\MP3z\English\Secondhand Serenade - Fall for You.mp3 #EXTINF:204,Giulia - Te-am ales [feat Gabriel] J:\Music\MP3z\Misc\Giulia - Te-am ales [feat Gabriel].mp3 #EXTINF:248,KOMBII - AWINION J:\Music\MP3z\Polish\08. KOMBII - AWINION.mp3 I found one post about this in the forums (from 2006), but the only reply was to send the file to the beta e-mail account for sage. |
