New MVP Shuttering Problem with Sage 6.5?

I recently upgraded my SageTV from 6.4 to 6.5.9 and I am now experiencing a new problem I did not have before.

On my MVPs, I am getting severe shuttering (stop/go) when I watch a compress recording and I hit the back/forward buttons.

So the playback starts just fine and everything is normal, but if I hit the back button to go back say 30 seconds, the recording goes back 30 seconds but then the playback begins to shutter (stop/go) like mad and stays that way throughout the rest of the movie.

The only way I found to temporary fix it, is to stop the playback completely and resume which then resumes ok - no more stops & go. If I again hit the back button to replay a portion of the movie, I again get the stops & go shutteting throughout the entire movie.

Anyone else?

HELP!

Found the problem in case it helps someone else:

Going to sage 6.5, the threads for sagetvtranscoder is too high by default - 3 threads for 2 cpus in my case. I also had increased the threads which did not help.

What stopped the shuttering was to make the threads 2 (one per cpu) or even make it 1 thread (1 thread for 2 cpus). I also increase the priority on the display transcoder to real time.

That fixed it.

Joe, could you describe how you increased the priority on the display transcoder to real time? I have never been able to get my 2 MVPs to work right. Most probably related to h.264 files form HD PVRs. When I built my server I thought a tri-core CPU would be more than good enough! Ha
Thanks,
Ken
