Question Will this setup work? Performance?

I have done some research, but did not find what I am looking for.
Please advise what you think.
I have the 6.5 of SageTV working great with my HDPVR resording from an HD STB.
I am using the server ( WindowsXP Home ) as the client as well.

Now, I want to use place shifter to view that content over the internet at a cottage. The connections are cable high speed and are pretty good. Probably 800K up and 10meg down at both locations.

At the remote site, I have a Mac. I could also get a HD Theatre if it can grab from a remote placeshifter?

Will this work and what would the quality be like? Can place shifter do HD? OR would it downgrade it? I pay for cable in both locations, so if this could work, it would save me quite a bit. Purchasing hardware to make this work is fine too.

Ideas on if this would work and how best to make it work?

Thank you

I haven't been able to stream HD locally much less downsamples and I have a quad core cpu as the server and an I7 as the client trying to stream to Placeshifter. Any tips on getting this to work would be great. I personally just mount the drive that the videos are on and play them using VLC. That may be an option. Streaming using VLC?

HD content recorded by the HD-PVR generally ranges between 8 megabit and 13 megabit in stream size. With 800 kilobit upstream, you're not gonna get it to go at HD quality.

There's the option of transcoding down to a much lower resolution, but that would no longer be HD.
