No Surround sound from Sage

I hope this is an easy one...

My configuration:
SageTV 6.5
Intel motherboard using SPDIF out
HDHomeRun
Integra reciever

When I play a blu-ray using PowerDVD, my reciever changes its decoding automatically to decode the Dolby-D surround sound. When I am watching an HD channel, the reciever says it's recieving onky a stereo signal (and it sounds like it).

I have tried all of the different audio choices, but clearly I am doing something wrong. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

record a program with 5.1 sound and play it back in a player outside of Sage. Do you get 5.1 sound then?

If so, then you know its not a recording issue, its just playback.

Load up the file with GraphEdit or GraphStudio and see which codecs are being used to playback the file. Configure Sage to do the same.

If you happen to be using the PowerDVD codecs be aware that each player needs to be independantly configured and Sage actually requires a small registry hack to work properly with 5.1 sound and PowerDVD codecs.

Are you using AC3filter? If so, did you configure it to pass through DTS and AC3 sound (assuming your receiver can deal with those on its own). To configure execute the ac3filter binary in the Sage directory. There are actually other threads in the forum that describe these quite detailed. I followed these descriptions and it works fine here.

I had this same problem when I first went to Vista from XP Pro. See this thread where ToxMox walked me thru the soultion:

Not exactly the same issue, but the solution should be the same.

EDIT: Start with about post #4, after I had S/PDIF working in TME.
