Unhappy Show ID in epg is the same for every Ep

Hi guys, I hope someone can help me here, but I'm not that hopefull.
Here in Australia the OTA guide data is very poor, and I'm missing HEAPS of favorite recordings because the show ID is the same every night, and there is no EP ID in the data. so every show is marked as watched before it's even recorded if I have watched 1 episode!
I don't mind if I record repeats or not.

Please help!!!!

Fraser

I have the same problem for a while. Many shows have the same Show ID and therefore will not record. Very annoying! I was hoping for the option to disable the whole watched behaviour. I assume you are getting your epg data from the transport stream dvb? Very interested if anyone has a solution for this....

Go into Detailed Setup-Customize-Detect repeat airings with non-unique IDs and set it to yes. (or the opposite of what it is set for now. I can't remeber if I changed mine)

Thanks Gplasky, but isn't that for the opposite scenario, when the shows are repeats, but have different ID's?
Ill try it to see if it helps.

Whether shows are repeats or not you would hope they would all have unique IDs. non-unique IDs would mean IDs that are the same.

I am a new SageTV user and have a case open on this exact issue, and we have already tried the suggestion, it made it worse.

Yep Australia sucks with regards to OTA EPG, up until recently we didnt even have one only Now and Next.

I got caught trying to record the news every night worked ok for the first week then every future weekday showing was marked as watched. Strange because I would of thought setting a favorite for "First and Reruns" would have got around the problem but it didnt. Strangely the weekend news work, they each have a different ID's to weekdays but it is repeated, ie every Sat is always the same but diff from Sunday or the weekdays, the weekends also have a diff description to weekdays.

My workaround for now was to load the web frontend and clear the watched flag but this doesn't have a very high WAF

There is a download in the download sections that automatically removes the watched status of shows that you "program" in, It might have to do for now.
Hopefully when they sort this "Freeview" marketing stunt, part of that will include a proper EPG.

Thanks for that tip, I hope to not need it as I thought "First and reruns" would have got around the duplicate showid.

I've just sent a debug off to Sage which should help them debug this problem. I'll forgo loading any addins until Sage finish needing debugs from me.

I'm will be pleasantly surprised if they do give us a decent EPG, but wont be shocked if it stays as is.

Well I haven't heard anything more from Sage and doing more searching of the forums it seems this problem has been around for a while. It doesn't just affect us aussies but it seems other things are getting the developers attention.

To keep the wife happy after spending all this money (a lic and 2 HD200's) to replace our PVR I am going to load in the plugin and keep my fingers crossed it will eventually be fixed.

Modified pluggin

I used the Wipeshow pluggin and modified it quite a bit to get the only solution I could think of. Its been a long while since I did any programming, but I managed to get this to work for me.

The plugin collects a list of all EPG IDs for airings that have been recorded as well as upcomming recordings, then compares these with the upcomming airings. If it finds there is a duplicate, it sets the airing to do a manual recording. So instead of a "F" on the recording it becomes an "M".

Unlike the WipeShow plugin, the files are not deleted. Only shows in the future have their Watched flag cleared and if there are duplicates, a manual record is set.

Hopefully you can get this to work for you.

I could not upload the full zip, so excluded the libraries. These are exactly the same as used in WipeShow, found here:

Good to hear that it works for you.

I made a small modification to the plugin. The favorite record padding was not present when there was a forced record, now it is. Update is in the download area.

I will give this plugin a try - I have some issues on one channel. Some episodes are using the same ShowID even they are not the same and some episodes are using a unique ShowID. I hope this plugin will help to fix the resulting recording issue.

One final question: Whats the purpose of the two properties "ForceFavRecordPlugin.time.hour" and "ForceFavRecordPlugin.time.minute" ?
