Interesting Tidbits I just discovered about SageTV, the company
Ironically, the CEO of SageTV since 2005, Mike Machado, used to work for the CEO and co-founder of Sonos, which is a leader in the niche of whole-house multi-room wireless audio systems, John McFarlane, at a company called Software.com, which the latter founded and then sold.
SageTV, now located in Inglewood, CA, was founded in 2003, while Sonos, located in Santa Barbra, CA was founded in 2002. So, similar start dates, one occupying a niche video space and one occupying a niche audio space, both small private companies, both have CEO's who worked at the same company, both products have a very loyal user base and the two companies are located within a 100 miles of eachother... Hmmmm, maybe there will be some synergy or a merger between the two companies in the future!

I guess I never put the two together. I did know Mike was once the VP of Technology at software.com and before that he was the founder and CEO of Mobility.net (webmail software for ISPs and web portals).
I love the Sonos concept, but not the price. I guess that idea of SageTV someday selling a Sonos-like device tied into SageTV probably might never happen as he would probably not want to compete with his buddy Still, interesting though. Last edited by Brent; 02-12-2009 at 09:43 PM. |

Still, one company could buy the other and then your worst realization may come true.

He's talking about a comment I made in this thread. I deleted it 2 minutes after posting it after I decided it was a bit on the silly side. Nothing more than that going on I promise

Yes I can delete my comments, but don't very often. Mostly do it when I realized what I said doesn't make sense (and I don't obviously always delete those either)
