I've been attempting to fix this one for about two weeks now and I'm stumped.
I recently switch to using h.264 l4.1 or 3.1 with AAC audio in MKV for backing up my movies. When ever I try to play an MKV file it errors out with: sage.PlaybackException: ERROR (-4,0x8007000e): There was a problem rendering the video portion of the content for playback.I've attached the relevant part of the log. The only things that stand out to me are these lines: -It looks like it isn't detecting the bitrate: Mon 2/9 13:24:41.988 VF processing job VFJob[LoadMF r=0.0 t=0 file=MediaFile[id=8888381 A[8888384,8888382,"#-D/Dr. Seuss Horton Hears a Who - HD/Dr. Seuss Horton Hears a Who - HD",0@0205.06:25,86] host=mr_media5 encodedBy= format=MATROSKA 1:26:15 0 kbps [#0 Video[H.264 23.975986 fps 1920x1040 24:13 progressive]#1 Audio[AAC 48000 Hz 6 channels idx=1]] \\mr_movie\media\Movies\#-D\Dr. Seuss Horton Hears a Who - HD\Dr. Seuss Horton Hears a Who - HD.mkv, Seg0[Thu 2/5 6:25:11.900-Thu 2/5 7:51:27.000]] ifn=null] nPlayin=false-It doesn't load Haali (or any splitter for that matter) -It doesn't load audio filter. The only filters installed right now are arcsoft, ffdshow, and haali. Arcsoft is configured in the properties file to be the default h.264 codec. I've tried changing the h.264 line in the properties file to use ffdshow and also tried it without that line, and neither worked (I got the same error). Any thoughts?

What do you have set in the properties file for AAC audio?

Well, I checked and it was blank. So I tried ffdshow and the arcsoft codec and both still get the same error.
DShow default is ffdshow for aac, btw. I've attached the new output log. The only difference I can see is that it actually loads an audio filter (ffdshow, in this case) this time. Is there a line in the properties file to specify the splitter to be used on mkv? That seems to be the missing component.

It's been weeks since I've started trying to fix this problem. I've tried everything I can think of, shy of reformatting the PC. I suppose I'll just go start a trouble ticket, less someone else has a suggestion.

Not sure if this will help but it fixed an issue I had with sage.PlaybackException: ERROR (-4,0x8007000e): There was a problem rendering the video portion of the content for playback.
I had some imported files that would give me this error every time I tried to play them through sage even though they played fine outside of sage. I found if I used the unc share for the directory instead of the drive letter, the problem went away. i.e., instead of D:\imports\movies as my import dir, I shared the import dir in windows and added \\computer_name\\imports\movies. Also make sure your server is running as a user instead of the default. |

When you were having that problem, was it every video on that particular share or just a few? My problem is only with MKV. All of the other videos on that share play fine.
I'm currently running sage as a service under a domain user account with permissions to the share. I access the share using a UNC.

It was only on a couple of HD WMV videos, all others worked fine.
