Server not going to sleep any more (logs included)
I'm trying to track down what may have been the cause as to why my server doesn't go to sleep (S3) any more.
For the past week, I've had to manually put it to sleep. The only thing hardware wise that has changed what that I upgraded to a dual core proc. But I don't think that would prevent the PC from going to sleep. I also enabled the secret animations on the server by accident, then turned it off. Im not sure if that would cause my problem also. I've included the log output of today, and the PC should have gone to sleep since like 8:30 am this morning. When I got home the PC was still up. I noticed a quite of few entries in the log with -> Diskspace checking is running It seems to run every five minutes. Is Sage keeping the system up by performing these diskspace checks? Thanks

It won't sleep if you have logging enabled.

Thanks for your reply.
I've had logging enabled for the past 5 months, and it was working fine. But I think I figured it out. It may have been because of the processor upgrade. I updated to the motherboard's latest bios, and it went to sleep last night. I'll keep an eye on it over the weekend, and if it fails to sleep again, I'll disable logging...

I eventually turned off logging, and now I'm flying blind.
Here is what I'm seeing so far -> When the server isn't going to sleep, I reboot it. After the period of inactivity, it goes to sleep. It wakes up to record a show, and from there it doesn't go to sleep, and every now and then I see the disk activity LED flashing. Anyone has any ideas. This is a plain jane install of 6.2.10.. Thanks

Just an update for archival purposes.
1. I reinstalled XP, and installed everything that SageTV needs (drivers/java/etc). It would occassionally sleep after the preset timeout after a reboot. But once I start using SageTV, it stops working. 2. I then installed Server2003, with all the needed drivers (this time I updated the M780 drivers to .19). The same issue as above. Weird.... After some googling, I found some references to USB having problems with power management. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841858 I made the change to the registry, but I didn't notice any improvements. 3. I removed the registry edit, and turned off USB in the bios. Now it seems power management is working as it should. Also as a side effect, it seems the M780 doesn't seem to crash the SageTV service when it starts recording. I'll monitor the situation, over the weekend...
