Jumpy menus in EVR mode

Since updating to 6.5, I've tried using EVR mode (Intel G35 chipset) to see if I can cut down on CPU usage a little.

The G35 chipset is supposed to have basic hardware acceleration (ClearVideo) for MPEG 2 and 4 with DirectX10, so I thought I might be able to reduce the CPU usage from about 30% for an MPEG-2 stream.

Bizarrely, CPU usage jumps to 40-60% under EVR (same codecs, Cyberlink PDVD8 - also tried Intervideo with the same sort of results).

What's even stranger, when I'm viewing TV in EVR mode, if I bring up the guide, or any menus, instead of the nice animated scrolling of the menu options, it will intermittently just jump between menu options. So, normally I'd get a nice scrolling effect, but now it will sometimes scroll, or sometimes just jump to the menu option.

I can't work this out, it can't be CPU usage, because even viewing HD (in overlay mode) when the CPUs at 70-80%, I still get smooth scrolling, but at 40-60% in EVR I get the jumpiness.

Any ideas? (and any theories on why CPU usage is higher under EVR?)

EVR uses DXVA2 hardware acceleration, where as VMR9 uses DXVA. My guess would be that the Intel chipset does not support DXVA2 (actually I would be surprised if it supports the majority of DXVA features).

As for the menu jumpiness see the following post for more info (ie turn off 3d acceleration):
