Waking up a WHS server...

Hey all, I'm looking into power saving features on my WHS machine.

I have done zero research, so please go easy on me if there is info on this out there.

I have 2 HD-200's connected to my WHS machine running latest Sage release (6.5.9). I found an add-in for WHS that will wake up the server if it gets a Magic Packet for WOL. Does the HD200 have any capabilities to send a Magic Packet and wake up the sageTV server?

If so, under what conditions would it do that? I would think it would find no sage servers and then move along. So, I don't think anything like this exists now, but does anyone know if Sage may think of this functionality in the future? What kind of delay (from turning on HD-200 with a sleeping (S3) server to main menu on HD-200) do you think we're talking about?

-B

Per SageTV Support... The HD-200 does NOT have the ability to Wake Up the Server... I asked them some time ago and that is what I was told...

It would definately be a good feature for them to add. However you can configure your server to wake on any directed packet rather than just a magic packet. To get this to work successfully on most small networks though you will need to give your server a fixed IP address and use this to refer to the server on the extender (rather than the server name which wont resolve properly if the server is asleep and the extender has dumped its wins cache).
