HDPVR IR-blast tuning
Okay,
I'm close. Really, really close. I can smell it. I'm running on Ubuntu 8.04 64-bit. I compiled latest hd-pvr kernel driver, applied the ir-blaster patch posted here, loaded it up, loaded up the latest SageTV, and it's nearly there. /dev/i2c-0 was being created, I adjusted my udev rules so I now automatically get a symlink as /dev/i2c-0. I selected /dev/video0 as my recording source, Sagetv is able to pull previews, or watch live TV. I selected Infrared Blaster for tuning, and I'm trying to get it to work against my cable box, but thus far, I haven't gotten my cable box to respond at all. I've got Comcast digital (San Mateo), the box is a Motorola DCT-6200. I think I should need "CBL-Cable Box-Comcast-85", which seems right as it matches up to "CBL-Cable Box-Motorola 6200-85"; i.e. the "85" matches both the Comcast entry and the Motorola entry (In fact, I looked at both files, and their md5 checksums show that they're identical). Here's what I know/have tested: 1. The IR-blaster from the HD-PVR *is* sending IR; I see it light up when sage is trying to send codes. 2. I've tried most of the Motorola entries, none of them have worked for me. 3. Based on forum posts I've found, I have fiddled with the "irtune_repeat_factor" in Sage.properties (stopsage, edit properties, startsage), trying values 1,2,3 & 4. No go... though it's unclear if that affects what is sent when you're selecting a STB, or once you've selected a STB and are trying to change channels. 4. A number of folks running on windows reported that they needed to edit their IR code files in order to get tuning to work, but those files appear to be binaries on linux. So, at this point, I'm out of things to tweak, I think. I poked around at lirc for a while but it looks like their support for Hauppauge 150 IR blasting is via a patch, and the lirc drivers don't seem to recognize the HDPVR i2c device. What can I tweak on to try to get this working? It looks *very* close, just not quite there.... [EDIT] Solved. I didn't have the blaster positioned correctly. It's a touchy beast about where you put it.....
