Mac Placeshifter 6.5: does it work for anyone?
So 6.5 seems to have basically broken Mac Placeshifter for me. HDHR programs that use to play just fine with 6.4 and earlier on a local LAN are now always out of sync, with the video lagging behind the audio. I've tried tossing the .sagetv/SageTVPlaceshifter.properties file and letting a new one be created but that hasn't helped. I've also adjust the various settings like streaming playback and post processing but its made no difference.
Are there any hidden property settings that might adjust the delay maybe? It seems to be quite consistent from show to show.

I should clarify here, what is the issue is the Local LAN playback via direct IP. Playing via the locator ID, where the SageTVTranscoder is used to transcode to a thinner stream, works OK (except for HD-PVR files, those usually just exit without playing at all).
Now that I look at this forum, I see it may not be limited to the Mac, but I'm not sure what changed, because this use to work in 6.4.

MAC placeshifter is broken
I also am having this issue. The mac on placeshifter is out of sync with sound and locking up when clicking on the menus. Freezes then unfreezes. GRR
Network ( 1gig ) no issues with networking at all. ( do this for a living ) NOte: I am scared to update to sp1 vista because some blogs have noted it kills the Cats Eye's driver. Any word on SP1 for vista with Cats eye? Anyone help please. Thanks |

I am also running on Gigabit Ethernet & HD-PVR H.264 files ... I also get sound sync problems and the picture is squished. But I am on Windows 7 (new Intel i7 system == very fast). I'm on 6.5.9.204.
Another problem, I am on a multiple monitor setup. This seems to confuse both the Client (which I cannot get working at all) and the Placeshifter. If I move the window over to the other monitor (not primary) and I maximize it doesn't fill the whole screen (including UI). It seems to only fill the width of the primary monitor. I don't know if this is related but the video never fills the screen and is extremely squished while try to view video. Last edited by J3G; 02-20-2009 at 10:33 PM. Mac Placeshifter
I am running the placeshifter on my mac mini and the latest leopard and I have no problems. I did have problems in the past with the mouse freezing but the latest 6.5 corrected that.
I also have a server running Vista with SP1. I have a catseye USB HD tuner and have perfect playback. There was a problem with the VBOX drivers but the developers fixed that. |

Place shifter used to work great for me on 6.4, but since the upgrade its kind of useless. Same audio out of sync issues as others have noted. My server is ubuntu 8.04 with java 1.5. I have a placeshifter running on the server and a placeshifter running on a mac. All environments are running java 1.5.
I'm also running a 1gig network and the machines have plenty of horsepower. Has there been any discussion of the placeshifter problems in 6.5.n amongst the sage developers? |

Yes, the Mac placeshifter v6.5.9 is no good. I just reverted back to 6.5.6. Same for the Mac client.
