Yes, I use my MCE remote to control a PC with my MCE remote using the USBUIRT.
Cool.

Do you know if it works with the MCE Keyboard/Mouse unit as well?

Do they work outside of Sage for other Windows apps?

Any program which knows how to access it, like Girder etc.....
With Girder, you can program it to send windows keystrokes to any program you want, and even more stuff like macros, system commands etc.....

hmm... i'm trying to avoid extra software and cut down on whats running in the background on my system.

I could always use the MCE IR unit for receiving only and the UIRT for Blasting only and I should get the functionality that I want. Unless Girder is specifically required for Sage to work...

I have never used the MCE IR unit for receiving and USB-UIRT on the same system, but I have used the MCE IR unit on a client for receiving comands from the MCE remote and used the USB-UIRT on my Sage server for sending commands. I see no reason why what you are asking to do above wouldn't work. And if you did it this way, you would not need to run Girder.....

Actually, i got the LM Remote software working properly after I uninstalled and re-installed it and now it allows me to do all my IR blasting as well!

I can get rid of HIP, LM Remote does not have issues tuning different channels simultaneously, and I have full support for my MCE Remote and Keyboard in Windows for all my other apps!

I'm happy and it didn't require any new hardware or software, just some more fiddling!

What has me worried is that in testing, the first time I tell it to change a channel it sends out a bunch of garbage numbers, then goes to the channel. During testing it failed to go to the correct channel a few times because of this.

I have a PIQ 2500-3 (two of those) and one PIQ 7100-1 from Verizion FIOS (Moto boxes). Are "you all" working fine with the USB UIRT?
little late to the thread, but isn't the 7100 an HD box??? I believe that box has firewire. if it doesn't, call them back and ask for 6100 box. That HD box definitely has a firewire (I have two of them on my computer now).

I've been running mine with 2 star choice boxes for a little over a year and it's never botched a channel change. I just wish there was another output for the 3rd zone and an input for a remote receiver.

Use a stereo mini plug to connect your external emmitters for zones 2 & 3. There are stereo plug to 2 single jack adapters out there if you don't make your own.

Yea, I've already made emitters for zones 2 & 3, what I was saying is that it would be nice to have a jack for an external emitter for zone 1 and a jack for an external reciever for people like me who hide their equipment in another room of the house. I'm almost tempted to buy another one to pull apart and experiment with
