SageTV will now try to record HD airings of a show over SD airings

How does this function? SageTV will now try to record HD airings of a show over SD airings.

My server has 2 HD-PVR's and they are both hooked up to HD Receivers. I do not have any other tuners in the server. I've noticed that some of my new favorites are recording on non HD channels even though they could be recording on one of the HD channels.

In the past I've told SageTV to only record on X channel and this has worked but if possible I rather use this feature.

The HD channels are all between 201 and 221 and my cable provider is Shaw Cable.

Any ideas?

I'm running Beta 6.5.6 on WHS.

Are the shows tagged as HD in the guide?

I wish they would make this a GUI configurable option. How hard would be be to add a setting to the Favorite to record in HD if available. Many of my wifes shows are watched through a Media MVP so its a waste to record them in HD. Usually I get around this by modifying her favorites to only use the SD channel.

I think an option to record only sd or only HD is definately needed.

The one show I checked that is on a HD channel doesn't show HD on it. So I'm not sure what that means...
I guess it's recorded in HD or SD then we get it in SD even on the HD channels. I thought it was better quality though even on the HD channels but maybe I'm wrong...

Well, simply it means Sage doesn't know it's HD, which basically means it's just another SD show to Sage. At least that's the answer as far as Sage recording logic goes.

Well that's sort of a separate question, it may or may not actually be HD, regardless though, as you guess, it's probably higher quality, even if it's not true HD.

What I do is just disable the SD versions of the channels in the guide.
