HD Theater and Mediasmart

I'm fairly new to this forum. I've been trying to set up a server for my archived movies and TV shows. Right now they are stored on an HP Mediasmart Server.

I have a spare PC so I thought I'd try Sage TV. I downloaded the trial, but so far I've been unable to get it to function. I'm not sure if I need Sage software running on the server or not. Anyway, I don't intend to use any tuners or set up a PVR. All I want this thing to do is play archived video/audio. Now that I've discovered the stand-alone HD200 it appears that this will do what I want, but I still have some question I can't find the answers to.

Will this access the mediasmart server on it's own, or does the server need to be running Sage software as well?

I see the HD200 has s/pdif out - will this play Dolby audio, or just stereo?

Thanks for any help.

If you have shared folders on your Mediasmart server the HD200 will be able to access them in standalone mode. In standalone mode it will play your videos and audio files. If your videos have AC3 digital dolby soundtrack it can be passed thru the spdif and played in DD 5.1 on your attached receiver.
