Possible Opera Browser for SageTV?

Opera is launching a new browser toolkit for set top boxes and game machines - similar to the one they did for the Nintendo Wii. Seems like it would be a good fit for SageTV and its extenders.

Just like my Wii, I would probably never use a browser in Sage, but I know many would and with the USB ports actually being usable on the HD200, I could see Sage supporting a wireless keyboard/mouse. This would really help bring some of the holdouts who won't go to an extender due to no browser.

I myself have an Asus EeePC 1000HA that I carry around with me so I have no need for a browser, but to each his own right?

I'm kind of with you on that, but having a entrance to the web could open up a few other options for content and other web-based apps as well...

I agree I can't see myself using Sage to surf the net, but the additional web apps that could be added is intriguing.

Agreed. The web browsing doesn't really spark my interest.

However, if this opens up the possibilty for more content, that could be interesting.

What comes to mind immediatly is the netflix hack. If there is a native web browser on the extender, the hack wouldn't be needed.

I can think of a few possibilities: Netflix, Pandora, LastFM, CBS Online, ESPN, etc etc. And if it could do flash, you could have games and other junk thrown in for good measure.

I have three HD Extenders and would love to get the ability to surf the web back on my TV's.
It's the only thing that I miss from the old PC client days ...

let me add my support for this. I am not sure what I would use it for, but I would find a use!

I would like a web browser function as well. Not for normal web surfing, but rather for times when you want to show someone something, bring up video sites not supported currently (teledyski.onet.pl, teledyski.interia.pl, etc...). It would certainly add to the appeal of an already good thing!

SageTv uses Java, could a java web app be used in SageTv, expecially for the HD200? http://lobobrowser.org/java-browser.jsp

I know, the HD200 doesn't support a keyboard.
