Two recording questions

Hi

I have used SageTV as a media center for a while and now I'm beginning my steps in TVrecording. I have two questions:
1. Can I connect the PVR to a client (location of set-top-box issue) and have the recording/viewing shared by all clients or must the PVR be on the server?

2. Can I move imported video to the recording folder and have it listed under the My TV menu? My idea is to have both recorded TV shows and imported TV shows at the same place.

Thanks!

Let me see if I'm understanding the question correctly... Are you asking if your recording device [tuner card etc..] can be connected to a client vs the server? I believe the answer is yes if it's a PC and you buy a seperate network encoder license (if they still have such a thing). All recordings go right to the server which then would share it out.

Under the default STV I don't think this is possible. There may be a plugin to do this. but recordings and imported videos are treated slightly different in sage. The recordings appear under Sage Recordings and the other under imported vidoes. There are ways to trick sage into thinking it recorded a show.. But the show info has to be in the database.

Someone else might be able to help you better than me...

Use neilm's web server to add the imported files to the database. They will then appear as normal recorded shows.

OK
It works!
just like you said tmiranda. Thanks!

Now is there a way to make the recorded shows look more like the imported videos. I mean that they will be grouped according to folder view with the show icon on the folder?
