Give a name when a recording starts:
is this possible directly or through a plugin? Maybe with the ability to define a pattern made of fix and dynamic text?
In the end, at some point, Sage has to build the name of the file so, not being a programmer I ask, why don't put there an option to let us tell sage which name to use. One can think to put in infos on: user, tuner, drive or path, channel, date, times, etc. In case of direct recording it should give us the option to directly choose the name. Can we also have the option to allow wives to easily rename recordings when they are completed, please? Without having to exit Sage and work on database and properties files, of course. Thanks. |

I guess I should ask, what are you trying to accomplish with the renaming?

I'm asking to get control over the naming process.
Of course, it has to work with the file name on disk as well as with the name I will see in the recordings page of Sage. Sometimes, here in Italy, the EPG reports only "No data" instead of the actual names of the programs so you end up having many "no data..." recordings and has to watch them to know what they are. The same happens with timed recordings. When I am telling sage to record a thing I probably know what I'm going to record and I would like to be able to put the name of the show (at least) in the name of the file. Now, often this doesn't happen. Thanks. |

... another shortcomings (at least for me) is that Sage doesn't automatically show you the actual start time and correct length of a recordings at a glance.
It will show you only the text it finds in the EPG for that show. I have almost decided to delete a recording, a movie, that showed 57 mins in the info on the top of the recs page but when I (luckily) decided to watch it, I found out that it lasted more than 2 hours. What happened was that the EPG was listing the data for only the first half of the movie while actually spanning for the whole length. Yes, I know that if I go to see the "recording details" I can see the actual start and stop times but it would be more useful being able to put this info just after the name or in the top side of the recording page when you select the recording. Again, this should lead the developers to let us choose a pattern for the name of the recordings making some variables avalaible and also the info to show in the top of the recs page. Thanks. |
