(ERROR -2): Files selected for playback are no longer on the disk

I just got my HD200 hooked up. Using it in standalone mode. Can't play any media files. Keep getting the above error. Only files I can open are pictures. Video and music give the error message.

I have updated to the latest beta firmware. I have created a user on the windows box and successfully entered the credentials on the extender. I have even enabled the guest account and given it read and execute rights.

It would really be nice to see this thing play a video.

I assume you're sharing the video folder to the network? And telling the HD200 what folders to look in for video content?

It's always worked in a dead simple straight forward way for me...but then I don't use credentials. That may be a complication for you.

Hi:
I am having the same problem with the new Beta Firmware update. I have a Buffalo Linkstation NAS drive... Has there been a fix yet?

I had the same problem even with the latest beta. What I finally realized was that whenever you add an import directory to the HD200, it tries to create the list of files right away but it only displays a small notification in the upper right corner of the screen that it is busy. If you try to navigate to a different directory while it is updating the updates are cancelled. This causes the -2 error if you then try to browse the import through the videos menu.

really frustrated

Received my unit last week, did the latest update as directed, and have been insanely frustrated with the same issue/error when trying to access anything that seems to have been imported. I too have a Buffalo Linkstation NAS drive that uses a u/p.

Additionally, every time I have to reboot (which is about 3 times a day, as this is how often this unit crashes/locks up), I then have to re-enter credentials to access the network share again (which I still don't understand for the life of me why the u/p is echoed when accessing a file).

These two things are so frustrating to have to futz with every time I want to watch anything, and seriously, if these two aren't fixed soon, I am going to need to return the unit and find something else.

got my unit today and have exactly the same problem.........i'll try your solution and only add one directory at a time, leaving it alone for a while to do it's thing before jumping immediately to add the next one................still worth a bug report as this is not at all user friendly

edit: also using buffalotech NAS units, but i have never had to use a u/p with my ziova media players, so i don't think that is the issue.
a dlink NAS doesn't have the problem..........hmmm

I just looked for updates on the Sage, and it says it's the latest.

At this point I am having a horrible experience using this box.

1. Every single time I switch over to it on my Sony TV (HDMI) after an hour or so of not watching anything on the box, it's locked or has crashed.

2. The remote usually does not work at that point as well, to power it off/on, so I have to manually pull the plug.

3. Every time I have to reboot, I have to re-enter the pass to access the LinkStation NAS drives.

At this point I am thinking it's time to return the unit and look for something else. It's a nice box, and I like the interface a lot, and it seems to have potential, but I really can't justify this much stress just to watch HD vids, when I have an MCE box connected that I can basically deal with for now until I find something else.

If you've not installed the beta firmware, go to Settings, System Update, type 2382 (BETA) on your remote and the "Update Firmware" line at the top of the display will change to "Update Beta Firmware".

Then select Check for Updates and install the beta firmware.

Thanks for the update Helen.

I gave it a shot and it updated fine. But the update seem to have made things worse then before.

Essentially it now wouldn't even recognize my network/network drives, and returned "Invalid Network" i think is what it said. And it wouldn't even ask for u/p anymore.

I rolled back and it accesses the network fine as before (asking for u/p then mounting). And the same problems as before return of course.

What bothers me the most is that I have 2 macs, 1 XP:MCE machine, 1 XP machine, an OSD, and a LinkStation NAS, which all recognize each other and talk happily together on the same network without issue ever, but the SageTV box is just not cooperating. I mean I was a network sysadmin for several years, so this shouldn't be that hard for me.

You should definitely submit a bug report and take a mental break from this while waiting for the response. I don't have the issues that you have (no NAS right now) but others may or I may in time.

It helps everyone when these things get reported and get fixed.
