HD200 Lockup

I have had my HD200 for about 2 weeks now. Since I have had it, if you leave it on it turns off after about 30 minutes and refuses to come back on with the remote, The green light is flashing but the red light is off. If pull the power cord and plug it back in it will reboot. I have upgraded each time to the latest beta with no change. I am beginning to believe I have a bad unit

My unit also does this too, even with the latest beta firmware.

I have just gotten used to how often this thing locks up. I probably unplug this thing 40 times a week.

I finally just put that power cord onto an X-10 device AC controller so I can power cycle the HD200 hud from a keychain remote on the couch.

My wife thinks it's cheap too. Doesn't help the whole DIY PVR thing I'm trying to sell her on. She just wants to pretty much exclusively use her Dish PVR as she thinks my computer based HTPC media center crap is just that.. a bunch of crap. Of course, she doesn't mind the HTPC server in the basement as long as we aren't using Sage but using PowerDVD for playback, but she doesn't like the SageTV part. I mainly like the SageTV because it supports the R5000-HD mod for Dish Network HD capture and record, and the HD200 DOES seem to playback all of those shows fine, but just doesn't seem very stable otherwise. If they could get these bugs dealt with, and make it support BD playback, then the idea of this box would be pretty good

Ok, I will try and figure out how to consistently repro this bug repeatedly and then I will submit a bug on it. I just never had the time to sit down and actually figure out when it happens or what exactly causes it since I never had the time to devote to it, but I just got done with a major project in my life and should have more time now to spend on testing this box. For now all I know is that when I sit down and if the red light is off on the front of the unit then I know it is a waste of time to try anything else other than to hard power cycle the unit.

I have several HD-200 units and they pretty much all experience random crashes, either when playing files or when just sitting there. They will power back on but generally won't actually play video until you pull out the power cord. Since this is so intermittent it is hard to reproduce and file a bug report.

Yes this is eactly what I am seeing.

Sometimes when the system has locked up and I leave it on with the frozen picture it will occasionally burtst into life and go into a fast forward type of mode like it was trying to catch up to where it should be had it been playing correctly.

Ive tried MPG M4V and AVI all with the same problems

Help Mr Sage !!

Bug thingy filled in

I guess I am glad to say I don't see this happening on mine. I am running 1230 firmware. However, I use mine almost exclusively in extender mode talking to my SageTV server. I hardly use it in stand alone mode unless I am watching something with PlayOn (Hulu, etc).

I have never, ever used mine as an extender and I get this crashing - both with SageTV recordings and other video files.

Just got my unit and it has the same or similar problem. If I turn the unit off with the power button on the remote, leave it overnight and attempt to start it with the remote there is no response.

I just got my unit today, and I am having the same problem. I'm using it in Extender mode running the SageMC 16x9 STV. For me, it's locked up 4 times in the first 10 minutes of use. Seems to lock every time I try to adjust the audio volume??? I'll try watching for a while without touching the audio and see what happens.

BTW, 2 out of the 4 lock-ups caused the Sage service on my server to totally lock-up. I could not redetect the server without a full server restart. Restarting the service did not help. It needed a full system restart.

I was thinking of ordering a HD-200. However, there seem to be widespread problems with the HD-200. Is a client PC a good alternative for watching HD content? The downside is the higher cost of the PC, but maybe it is more reliable.

Scratch my post. My issues were caused by my own stupidity...

I temporarily put the HD200 down in place of my Client PC in the Living Room. However, I gave it the same IP address as the PC and the PC was still running and plugged into the network. So my freezes coincided with IP address conflict errors on the PC. I thought the Sage Service on my server was down, but turns out the HD200 was just being bumped off the network because of the IP conflict.

After I resolved this, things were rock solid for 1+ hours.

I updated to the latest firmware 2 days ago, and I have had this problem continuously. I recall it happening before, but not to this frequency. My machine is set to use DHCP, so there shouldn't be an IP address conflict.

I just submitted a bug report.

I had this issue too. I fixed it by turning off the screensaver.
