Somewhere in the detailed settings (I think it is in the OSD timeout section) there is a setting that tells Sage how long to delay (in ms) before displaying the cover art. If you set it to 0 you will never see the disc icon. It will also slow down your scrolling a little bit. (That's why the setting was put in there, by not immediately displaying the coverart scrolling became quicker.)
