Problem with CoverArt and general Art issues

I am using

Current STV File: SageMC 169.xml v6.2.0a
SageTV 6.0.13.112

Problem:
No COVER ART for music.

When using the Winamp plugin others have noted they have been able to get cover art to show either by just placing a jpeg in the folder (with the same name) or with mp3 embedded images.

I am using FLAC and I place a jpeg in the FLAC folder with the same name. I've been told this works for others.

When I view My Music
View by Album

Sort by Artist

I get Album names and the Artist on each folder.
Under Display Options (right click) there are 3 choices

Cover Only
Cover and Title
Cover and Title and Artist

Regardless of which option I select I get the same result as listed above. (Album name and Artist). How does this program name folders? Is it based on info that is gathered from the music files?

When I look at my music folder in windows explorer the folder is named

Come What(ever) May. The jpeg in the folder is also named this.

But when I am viewing it in My Music

The folder name is:

Come What(Ever) May by Stone Sour. <<<How did it know who the artist was?

I'd like my Music Cover Art to look the 4th pic from this thread:
http://forums.freytechnologies.com/f...ad.php?t=20688

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Coverart

I battled this for a while myself and finally got it working.

I think Sage knows who the artist of the song/album is because it is saved in the ID file within the song.

What I was told was to name the jpg of the coverart 'folder.jpg' NOT the name of the folder

I have mine set up 1 folder for each album. I am using FLAC files that have the artist name, song name, album info etc embedded in it. It seems as though regardless of what I name the folder, sage places it own name on the directory within Sage... but that's ok by me.....

Lets say you have a folder called 'Sticky Fingers' the coverart for that album contained in this folder would be called 'folder.jpg'.... Not 'Sticky Fingers.jpg...

See if that works

Does FLAC files allow album art to be embedded too? If yes, then I suggest to get some sort of FLAC tag editor and insert the album art into it. This is how I'm doing it with my MP3 files.

Not sure, but folder.jpg works fine with FLAC files ...

Folder.jpg worked like a charm. Thanks.

How do I have the cover art be the full size of the folder like in the thread I listed above?

While in that screen, you need to get to the Options menu to define how many rows and columns you want...the less rows and columns, the larger the coverart.

You can right click the mouse, or try different buttons on your remote until it pops up.

I don't think you can embed pictures in the FLAC files....

I use 2 rows by 3 columns. It doesn't look anything like the other jpg from the link I provided.

eidt because rows and columns were reversed.

Coverart

I dunno...

First off, let me say that I have the MC 16x9 STV running with Sage

I have mine at 4 x 4 in both video and music areas.

My frustration is that in the video section, the coverart is square shaped (rather than tall and rectangular like a DVD cover should be)

In the music section, the coverart is shaped like a 16x9 rectangular screen (rather than square like a CA cover would be)

I think it might be something in the STV that defines the shape of the placeholders that the coverart goes into..just a guess.

Hi JD,

I just tried it with 4x4 on 6.20a, and the videos are tall /rectangular. and the music covers are square (see attached screenshots). I would say that 4x4 is way to many icons anyway (I personally use 2 rows x 3 cols on my 4:3 TV and 2x4 on my 16:9 HDTV), but of course, this is just my own personal preference.

Did you check that the cover images on the disk are square (music) and tall rectangular (videos) to begin with ?

Those covers in the attached jpegs are all misproportioned.

The DVD Covers are squished in and too tall. The CD Covers are are not square.

All my covers are 500x500 (square). But that's not how they appear.

I guess I'm not the only one with those problems.

I agree completely. Is there a possibility that the programming for the imaging of covers is reversed in relation to cd's and video/dvd covers?

Looking at the jpegs that were attached aboveby flachbar, they look good to me.

I checked my jpegs for size and shape and on the disk they are as should be... I also tried changing the layout to 2x2 and 3x2 (rather than 4x4) and the pictures stayed the same..

It could be an issue with something I am running or a config problem... as I said, I can live with it and it will probably fix itself sooner or later.

Edit: I just went and loaded the original (stock) STV w/o MC and the pictures were still screwed up........
Thanks -JD

The default v6 STV should be showing cover art proportioned like the original image... just smaller. (i.e.: the original image's aspect ratio is preserved)

If an STV tells the image to preserve its aspect ratio, but the image still doesn't look correct on the screen, then go to Detailed Setup -> Multimedia -> Display Aspect Ratio Settings & make sure that setting is correct. If the square & circle on that screen are not square & round, respectively, then make adjustments until they are.

What are you talking about ??
The CD covers are perfectly squared. The DVD covers might be a bit off, they have an aspect ration of 0.7 compared to the original ones on disk with 0.67 (which I would account to probably some little imprecision of the Sage core scaling algorithm, since all picture widgets have the "Resize to fit" and "Preserve aspect ratio" set) ...

That's why he gets the big bucks!

Mine was set at 5x4 (how it ever got that way I'll never know)...changed it to 16x9 and everything has shaped up!
Much thanks!

BTW, that menu option (Display Aspect Ratio Settings) does not appear on the MC menu. I reverted back, fixed it, and loaded up MC again.

The Sage6.0 manual says it will use embedded art in mp3s for the thumbnails.

Anyone know if this works with AAC files as well? My entire collection is AAC with thumbnails inside.

Edit: Aparantly not.
