Spoiled !!
Just returned from a weeks stay with the kids / grand kids. Now, don't get me wrong, it was great, with an exception, had to endure 'old style' TV. Watching TV without Sage / Showanalyzer is painful. No pause, forward or backward, nothing. Can't pick a show to watch without missing another.
And, we had to watch commercials. We had forgotten how intrusive and disgusting they are. The only defense was 'mute'. Don't know who is responsible for the 'mucus' commercials, but they should be beaten with something and then forced to watch their commercials for 48 hours straight. What were they thinking ??!! Gonna have to sign up for Placeshifter the next time we go. |

Back in my day...
We used to watch commercials and like it! You can also take a HD Extender for placeshifting and connect it to the TV. B

I love the irony of Grandpa being annoyed by the less-technologically inclined kids and grandkids! In my family, it is the exact opposite. When my in-laws come to watch the kids, they avoid sage like the plague. I even customized a button on my Harmony remote that says "MOTHER" so that all they have to do is push it and they can flip channels old-school style to their hearts content with the TV's built in tuner. But they're still convinced they will burn the house down if they push the wrong button, so now we just turn the TV on for them and leave it. Maybe I need to rig up a giant rotary dial that has all 125 channels on it, with some old bunny ears/tin foil on the top just for show.

Though bunny ears (as seen on certain mens magazines) would definitely be a conversation starter by the TV...
