Upgrading Need Some suggestions

This may be a COMPLETELY useless question but here goes.

I've been a long time user of Sage TV for about 4 years or so. I've been avoiding a hardware upgrade for quite some time. I've had really good luck using Sage TV 5 for software, Hauppage 250 for recording and using my graphics card for video out. My problem comes in January when the Hauppauge 250 analog will be deemed useless.

I am curious as to if there are any Digital Tuners that will fit a PCI slot ( not a PCI express.) The box I am currently using is pretty old and does not have a PCI Express slot. I'm really looking for band aid solution for this box without having to build an entirely NEW one.

Any suggestions here are Welcome and greatly appreciated. I really like SAGETV and would like to continue to use it, however building a new box would be about the same cost or more than just getting a Tivo.

I would say go with a Silcon Dust HDHomerun. It is a network Tuner, so you dont need to install it in the computer itself. heres a link.

I'm assuming that you are using it for OTA (antenna) reception and not cable... because you know that if you are using it for cable, it will still work, right?

Just checking... 'cause, you know... a lot of people still don't seem to know that.

Ummmm.........I'm using it for cable........can you elaborate? Cause apparently, I'm either misinformed, or just plain stupid..........or both, which is highly probable.

Cable and satelite will not change in Feb.

The only people effected in Feb are people using regular antenna's

The cable and satelite companies will have to change how they receive their feeds, but nothing changes on your end.

The official site is here: http://www.dtv.gov/

You should be fine on cable. Even if you used antenna you could always get a pair of the converter boxes and then set up a blaster to control them.

You may want to start saving for upgrades, eventually you'll need to do something, even if it's just to replace failed components.

Awesome, thanks guys. I guess I was completely misinformed. I thought my card would be deemed useless. Thats great news, I really enjoy using SageTV. And you are right Djc208, I really need to do an upgrade sometime soon. Including upgrading to SageTV 6+.
