AppleTV running Xbmc - My Impressions....

A friend of mine, who couldn't/wouldn't wait for the HD200 to get in stock, decided to buy an AppleTV. He asked me to install Xbmc on the unit, and I did.

I must say that overal, I was disappointed with the AppleTV. Xbmc ran fine, but the lack of x264 support at 720p doesn't make the unit very useful.

I wish he had waited until the HD200 was in stock... His primary purpose was to use this as an upgrade for his current Xbmc running the Xbox. Unfortunately, after paying $250, this unit doesn't really play anything that a $50 Xbox can't already play (Apple DRM content excluded).

Thanks for the information. As I am awaiting my HD200, I've been looking around to see what else might work.
