Strange HD-PVR Extender problem
Please see my sig for a description of my setup. I am recording 1080i .ts HD files and playing them back with an HD-100.
Everything was working great until recently, when I sent my original-batch HD-PVR back by RMA and received a new C2 unit. I am using RCA audio, not optical. For some bizarre reason, I am having playback issues (no sound) on my HD-100 extender, when I try to play back a recording made by my new C2 unit. If I connect to Server 2 or 3, no sound. But if I connect to Server 1, playing the same file, sound plays fine. I thought all the playback codecs were on the extender itself. Why would one of my Sage servers be different from another in serving up content? One key difference might be that Server 1 has my other HD-PVR plugged into it and associated software installed. But I am still confused.

Can you verify that all the recordings have sound, like with the arcsoft software?
First time I see someone running 3 separate servers on the same network. Is there a reason why you aren't running the other 2 servers as network encoders?

The files definitely have sound, and play back perfectly on the extender if I connect to server 1.
Guess I am not clear on what a "network encoder" is and what the benefits are. The extender lets you pick what server to connect to. Each is an independent recording source.

I was asking for you to verify if the files on server 2 and 3 have sound, not the files on server 1.
Network encoders allow you to configure server 2 and 3 to be slaves to server 1. If you set it up this way, server 2 and 3 will be controlled by server 1. Server 1 will tell the slave servers what to record. With this setup, you only need to connect to one server, but have access to all recordings from the 3 computers. Search the manual or forum for network encoders for more info.
