Sage dosen't know which STB to use.

I just did a revamp of my Sage Server .

My server consist of

2 PVR 150
1 PVR 1600
1 HDPVR
The HDPVR is connected to a HD STB with IR Controlling channel changing
The 1600 is controlling the SD STB using USB URIT
The PVR 150"s are used for SD

The problem is when I set up to record in HD in the Guide , SAGE sometimes uses the PVR 1600 connected to the SD STB.

The SD STB does not pass and HD and I record a blank screen

I set the merit so the HDPVR is at 0
The 1600 is set to merit 2

I am using the bata version 6.5 because I am waiting for my new 200 extender.

What can I do to fix this.

Ed

So the IR blaster is trying to change channels for the 1600 vice the HD PVR periodically? Or is Sage trying to tune HD channels on the wrong tuner. If it's the later than I'd say your channel lineup must be incorrect. If the 1600 STB can't tune the HD channels then the channel lineup for that tuner shouldn't include them.

Then I'd set the 1600 higher and Sage should use the SD tuner for non HD recordings and only items that aren't on the SD linup, or are available in HD, or if all other tuners are used does the HD PVR get used for recordings.

Yes it sounds like you have used the same lineup for both the 1600 and the HDPVR so Sage is just picking either one to record the HD channel of your show. Sage will always prefer the HD version regardless of what your merits are set to.

You Need To Use Different Lineups!

Two things:

1) You have the merit reversed. The higher the merit number, the higher the priority.

2) You need to remove the HD channels from the 1600 line up. To do this, make sure you are on the default STV, and not Sage Media Center plugin. I made that mistake in the past.

Thanks for the reply.

A stupid question .
How do I set different lineup for the different tuners.
I tried to set a line up for each tuner ( they are both use the same channels) other than HD
On the SD tuner I un checked the HD channels.
On the HD tuner I enabled all channels.

But it also enabled the HD channels on the SD tuner.

I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

You probably need to delete the SD tuner and re-install it (in Sage, not in the machine). It should prompt you to select the channel linup (Going from memory here so it may not be exact). When you select the same linup as used by the HD tuner it should ask if you want to use the same linup or make a copy of it. You want a copy.

You can then unselect the HD channels from that linup without affecting the HD copy of the linup. The downside is that since it's a copy any changes to the channel linup won't automatically be made to the copy, you'd have to re-perform the tuner setup to implement the changes.

The other thing you can do is to choose another lineup that you know is pretty much the same but for a different city/zip code. That is what I do - I am in Scarborough which is a suburb or Toronto and I use Roger Cable -Scaborough for my SD lineup and Rogers Cable-Toronto for the HD lineup. In the digital range all of the channels are on the same numbers.

Thanks to all

I tried both of the above mention solutions.
The first method above I ended up with many many channels numbers that where not valid on Comcast cable.

It was probably something I was doing wrong.

The second method seems to work fine so far.

Thank you for the help

I am going on a weeks vacation and have set up recording for wife.

Happy Holidays.

Thanks Again

Ed
